Ready to go!

We spent all day preparing, packing and last minute shopping for this trip. The plane does not leave until 2:20am Sunday morning & arrives in Busan at about 7am. Sunday could be a long day!

The bikes have been prepped, we have packed the panniers & sorted out how the top bags will be attached on top of the bike bags on the racks. So much to plan for!

We have not been able to sort out a sim card from HK so we will need to find out when we land tomorrow. We have no accomodation booked in Busan, so that will be the mornings job as well.

Our panniers & top bags weight between 2.5 - 3 kilos each. We have 4 in total. We have packed our stuff into smaller plastic  bags to put inside the panniers. This helps to keep it organised and offers extra water proofing.

New fancy Panniers

No pedals anymore ready for transporting.

We were packed up on time and the man with a van was a bit early so we headed off to the airport. Found where we needed to check in for Dragonair- wheeling our bikes through the airport - if the pedals had been on, I would have loved to do a few laps as the place was empty at the midnight hour.

We confirmed we were on the flight then proceeded to prepare the bikes for their flight. The check in stff were amused and very concerned thr we did not have hard boxes to put the bikes in, and really tried hard to persuade us that is how they needed to be packed. We assured them it was OK the way we had done it, the bikes would be fine.

Weighing in - Wayne's bike was 9kg, mine was 12kg. The check in panniers were 6kgs - which he will be carrying, so it sort of evens out, or will once I put a few bricks inside them.

We then had to carry our bikes from aisle H back to aisle C (about 150m) as the closest over size baggage counter was shut. They also had an elderly lady in charge of it, so Wayne ended up placing the bikes into the crate to assist her.

No shopping or eating as everything in the airport is closed.
