Day 2 - Busan to Namjiri 86.4kms

Monday 6 June 2016

2 stamp day

The weather started a being drizzly and over cast so we donned the light weight wet weather gear to start with.

We placed our feet into plastic bags then slipped them into our shoes - this worked well to keep the feet dry all day.

It was a slow to get the body warmed up morning.

Getting out of Busan was pretty straight forward, the terrain is pretty flat with the paths winding through some nature reserves & away from traffic.

We got to our first passport stamping place (Yangsan Water Culture centre) when it was raining  quite heavily. It was quite a busy stop with many cyclists heading toward Busan.

After a 2:20hr ride we reached the 40km mark (a bit slow!!) and after trying to communicate with some locals about food, they directed us to a fabulous restaurant where we met a lovely man who was able to help us in English to order food. It was a little bit chilly with the rain, so it was good to be warmed up with some hearty pork soup with rice & Kimchi.

After some food in our belly, and rain gear off we were on our way again. Saw some interesting things - intravenously watered trees for one! The signage for the four rivers trail is pretty good along these parts - we look for the butterfly/ flower symbol as we can't read any thing else on the signs.

We had one quite steep hill to get up soon after lunch - the view from the top was really quite lovely. I walked my bike up - I seriously need more granny gears!

We then rode along a dyke through farmlands. This was very pleasant especially with the cloud cover.

We are here. The signage in the south of the country is very good.

Thankfully there are many toilets enroute, most are pretty clean. Have only come across one shocker.

Sign posts counting down the distance with  signs telling us we are getting closer to the next passport station. We saw a first aid kit along  the way - it was locked! At many of the booths we came to we had wait our turn to stamp our passports, the route was so busy with cyclists. This Monday was a public holiday.
This stamping station was Changnyeonghammanbo and was about 60kms from where we started. Only two stamps today.

The bike friendly hotel we stayed in. It was wonderful with a big bath with jets. Awesome after a long day on the bike.

We ended the day with Korean BBQ.
